Kongreso, tiniyak ang kahandaan na amyendahan ang mga batas para mas makahikayat ng foreign direct investment

Muling inihayag ni House Speaker Martin Romualdez na handa ang Kongreso na repasuhin at amyendahan ang aniya’y ‘obsolete at archaic’ na mga batas para mas makahikayat pa na mamumuhunan sa bansa.

Ito’y matapos ang pulong ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa ilang potential investors sa bansa sa kaniyag pagdalo sa Milken Institute Summit sa Singapore.

Isa rito ang Dyson Group na nangako ng P11-billion na halaga ng investment na magreresulta sa 1,250 na trabaho at ang Valiram Group, isang Malaysian retail specialist, na planong magtayo ng duty-free retail outlets sa mga airport ng Pilipinas sa susunod na limang taon.

Ayon kay Romualdez, kaisa sila sa hangarin ng Pangulo na ayusin ang mga batas ng bansa para mas makapagpapasok ng foreign direct investments.

“We are moving, streamline those laws and we’re also looking at the totality of the body of laws and looking at older laws, either obsolete or archaic o yung sinasabi na hindi na bagay sa panahon na nag e-encourage tayo ng foreign investments. At hahanap[a]n natin ng paraan to amend, babaguhin natin para mas magiging open ang bansa sa foreign direct investment.” ani Romualdez.

Una nang inamyendahan ng Kongreso ang Public Service Act at Retail Trade Liberalization Act para maka-engganyo pa ng mamumuhunan sa bansa.
