Hindi pipigilan ni Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. ang Commission on Elections (COMELEC), kung maghahain ito ng kaso laban sa mga guro at pulis na biglang umatras sa kanilang election duties.

Matatandaan na sinabi ni COMELEC Chair George Garcia, na kasong kriminal at administratibo ang kanilang ihahain laban sa mga umatras na guro at pulis na nagresulta sa pagkaantala ng Barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE) sa ilang lugar sa bansa.

Ayon kay Abalos, dapat masusing imbestigahan ang insidente at kung mapatunayan na walang sapat na batayan ang pag-atras ng mga ito sa kanilang tungkulin ay maaari nga talaga silang kasuhan.

Ngunit kung mapatunayan na may banta sa kanilang buhay at seguridad kaya sila umatras ay tiyak na maiintindihan naman ito ng COMELEC. | ulat ni Kathleen Forbes
