Finance Sec. Recto, nanawagan sa financial institutions na agad na sumuporta sa developing countries sa kanilang paglago

Nanawagan si Finance Secretary Ralph Recto sa mga financial institution particular ang World bank (WB) at International Monetary Fund (IMF), na maging agaran ang kanilang pagtulong sa developing countries.

Ginawa ni Recto ang pahayag sa kanyang pagharap sa Intergovernmental Group of Twenty-Four o G-24  bilang chair ng Board of Governors.

Ayon sa kalihim, dapat paigtingin ng WB at IMF ang kanilang pagsisikap na asistihan ang developing countries na tugunan ang mga hamon na kanilang kinahaharap sa paglago, partikular dito ang short-term liquidity at affordable long-term financing solutions.

Aniya, nakakaalarma na isa sa bawat apat na bansa ang lalong naghihirap matapos ang pandemya at patuloy na naghihirap dahil sa global economic slowdown.

Ang kailangan ayon sa DOF Chief, innovative at responsive financing solutions na makatutulong na malagpasan ng mga bansang ito ang mga hamon gaya ng replenishment, mas mabilis na disbursement, at efficient delivery ng International Development Association.

Ang G-24 ay binuo noong 1971 kung saan tinutulungan nito ang developing countries sa kanilang international monetary and development finance issues, at matiyak na maisulong ang kanilang interes sa negosyasyon sa international monetary matters.

Ang Pilipinas naman ang nagsisilbing Chair ng G-24 mula 2023 hanggang 2024. | ulat ni Melany Valdoz Reyes
