Iniutos na ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu-Laurel Jr. ang nadiskubreng bukbok sa ibinebentang bigas sa Rice-for-All program sa isang palengke sa Quezon City.

Ayon sa kalihim, batay sa inisyal na ulat sa kanya, kumpirmadong may bukbok ang ibinebentang bigas pero ito ay hindi NFA rice.

Lumalabas din aniyang pina-hold na pala ang dapat na bentahan ng naturang bigas kaya inaalam kung bakit tinuloy pa na ilabas ito.

Itinuturing naman ni Sec. Tiu-Laurel na ‘isolated incident’ lamang ang nangyari at magsisilbi umano itong aral para mas higpitan pa ang quality control sa mga ibinebentang bigas.

Kaugnay nito, plano ng DA na magpadala ng rice experts mula sa NFA sa Food Terminal Inc. para doblehin pa ang pag-iinspeksyon sa mga bigas bago ito ibaba sa mga Kadiwa ng Pangulo kiosks. | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
