2026 Asian Games chef de mission Richard Lim is confident this year’s Team Philippines can surpass its four gold medal haul three years ago in Hangzhou, China.
In a huddle on Sports Radio 918, Lim said defending pole vault gold medalist EJ Obiena, Olympic and world champion Carlos Yulo, and tennis star Alex Eala are among those who are strong gold medal contenders for the national team.
Lim, president of the Karate Pilipinas Sports Federation Inc., also officially confirmed Eala’s participation in singles and mixed doubles, where she won a couple of bronze medals in 2023.
The 700-plus delegation, that includes 443 athletes, will have a send-off before the first batch departs for Japan on September 4.
