Itinuturing ng Malacañang na welcome development ang pagbagal ng inflation na naitala sa bansa nitong Hulyo, na sumasalamin sa efforts ng Marcos Administration, upang tugunan ang pagtaas ng mga bilihin.
Sa gitna ito ng epekto sa Pilipinas ng iba’t ibang hamon bunsod ng geopolitical tensions at mga sama ng panahon na dumaan sa bansa.
“We welcome these encouraging developments, but we remain vigilant. The geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and the effects of El Niño continue to pose risks to food and energy prices,” paliwanag ni Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro.
Ayon kay Castro, ang headline inflation ay bumagal sa 6.2% mula sa naitalang 6.4% noong Hunyo. “This signals that overall price pressures are gradually moderating.”
Sa Metro Manila, aniya, nakakita ng mas mabilis na inflation relief, kung saan nasa 4.4% ito, mula sa 4.9%. “Metro Manila saw faster relief from inflation.”
Sa usapin naman ng sectoral inflation, ang transport cost ay mas nagiging manageable na, habang gumagaan din ang fuel price pressures. “With diesel and gasoline inflation slowing, reflecting lower global oil prices and helping temper transportation costs,” ani Castro.
Ilan pang presyo ng pagkain ang patuloy na kinakikitan ng improvement, tulad ng karne ng baboy at manok. “Pork and chicken prices declined due to ample supply, while vegetable inflation eased as prices of eggplant, garlic, and onions continued to fall.”
Habang ang presyo ng bigas ay patuloy na tumatatag. “While annual rice inflation remains elevated due to base effects, actual rice prices continued their month-on-month decline,” pahayag ni Usec. Castro.
