Lokal na produksyon ng palay at mais, makakabawi sa 2025 — Grupong SINAG

Naniniwala ang Samahang Industriya ng Agrikultura (SINAG) na makakaangat na ang lokal na produksyon ng bansa sa darating na 2025.

Sa isang pulong-balitaan sa Quezon City, sumang-ayon ang SINAG sa pahayag ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na nahirapan ngayon ang lokal na produksyon ng palay dahil sa mga tumamang El Niño at kalamidad na nagpadapa sa maraming sakahan.

Umaasa ang SINAG na mas magiging maganda na ang sitwasyon sa susunod na taon para makabalik sa 20 million metric tons (MMT) ang kabuuang produksyon sa bansa.

Kaugnay nito, muli namang ipinunto ng grupo ang hirit nilang dagdag na suporta sa mga magsasaka kasama na ang commitment mula sa Finance Department para maibalik ang taripa.

Umaasa rin ang SINAG na mabawasan pa ang pag-iimport ng bansa.

Patuloy rin ang panawagan nito sa Kongreso na isabatas na ang panukalang magpapalakas sa sektor ng Livestock, Poultry, at Dairy pati na rin ang corn tariff sa susunod na taon. | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
