Iminungkahi ng Department of Agriculture (DA) at Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) kay Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na gawin na lamang bigas ang financial assistance na ipinamamahagi ng goberno sa ilalim ng 4Ps.
“It was suggested in the meeting that we have the 4Ps, for example, for DSWD. We told the President that if we can convert the 4Ps instead of money, it should be on rice form, supplied by NFA.” -Usec Navarro.
Sa press briefing sa Malacañang, sinabi ni Agriculture Usec. Roger Navarro na ito ay upang mabigyan ang mga ito ng supply ng bigas mula sa National Food Authority (NFA), at upang hindi na bumili pa ng bigas ang mga ito mula sa palengke o sa mas mahal na pamilihan.
“So we will take them out in the price pressures of the market in terms of buying high-price rice. These are 20% all over the country which are the vulnerable poor under the DSWD that is beneficiary for 4Ps.” -Usec Navarro.
Ayon kay Usec Navarro, nakikita rin nila itong paraan, upang mapabagal ang inflation, at mapababa ang presyo ng bigas sa merkado.
“And we’re giving them money, and unfortunately because that is not rice, they’re going to buy rice in the market price; and that put pressure and inflationary in the market because they’re going to compete with the people who have money and then with only 4Ps. If we can convert the 4Ps by way of supplying them rice instead of money through NFA, then probably the inflation for rice will go down.” -Usec Navarro.
