Katuwang ang Quezon City Government, Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, at UN Women, inilunsad ngayon ng United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) ang inisyatibong #EmpowerHer: Advancing Women in/for Justice (Philippines).
Pinangunahan nina UNODC Programme Country Manager Daniele Marchesi at QC Mayor Joy Belmonte ang paglulunsad ng programa ngayong araw sa QCx sa Elliptical Rd, Quezon City
Isa itong komprehensibong proyektong nagtutulak sa gender equality at pagkilala sa mahalagang papel ng mga kababaihan sa criminal justice sector.
Kasama sa tutugunan rito ang underrepresentation ng mga kababaihan sa law enforcement, prosecution, judiciary, penology at community service provision.
Sa kanyang pahayag, ipinunto ni QC Mayor Joy Belmonte ang pangangailangan na maiabante ang pantay na representasyon ng mga kababaihan sa naturang sektor, lalo na sa law enforcement dahil hindi rin naman umano nalalayo ang kakayahan ng mga kababaihan sa mga kalalakihan.
Para sa alkalde, magandang pagkakataon ito para matukoy ang mga polisiyang dapat na mabalangkas para matugunan ang gender disparity sa criminal justice sector at masigurong may oportunidad para sa career advancement ng mas maraming kababaihan ang maging lider sa sektor.
Tampok sa inisyatibong #EmpowerHer ang roundtable discussions kasama ang ilang women leaders sa iba’t ibang ahensya sa justice sector.
