Nasa final stage na ng extradition process ang Department of Justice (DOJ) laban kay dating Representative Arnolfo Teves na itinuturong sangkot sa pagpaslang kay Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo, noong Marso 2023.
Sa press briefing sa Malacañang, sinabi ni Justice Undersecretary Jesse Andres na mayrooong karapatan si Teves na magsumite ng motion for reconsideration sa loob ng 30 araw.
Sila aniya sa DOJ, naghahanda na sa pagbalik nito.
“We are glad to confirm that we are already in the last stages of the extradition process. We are assuring, Mr. Teves, his right to due process in all aspects of the proceedings, including his right to file the motion for reconsideration on the decision to extradite him, and that will lapse in 30-days. So, we are very confident and we are on top of the situation.” -Usec Andres.
Ayon naman kay Justice Usec. Raul Vazquez, positibo sila na mapauuwi sa bansa si Teves.
Kahit kasi aniya hindi matuloy ang extradition process nito, mayroon pang isang paraan na maaaring ikonsidera ang Timor Leste.
Ito ang deportation, lalo’t kanselado naman na ang pasaporte ng dating mambabatas. “Let me just emphasize na kahit anuman ang mangyari iyan, sa extradition process na iyan – mayroon pang isang bagay na puwedeng gawin ng Timor Leste, deportation, dahil undocumented na si dating kuwan… kanselado na po iyong passport niya.
