DENR: Makiisa sa Earth Hour bukas

Hiningi ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) sa sambayanang Pilipino na makiisa sa gagawing “Earth Hour” ngayong Sabado, March 25, bilang suporta sa global efforts para protektahan ang mundo at labanan ang climate change.

Ayon sa DENR, suportado ng ahensiya kasama ng kanilang regional at field offices, bureaus at attached agencies nationwide ang pagpatay ng ilaw mula alas-8:30 hanggang alas-9:30 ng gabi ng Sabado, para sa aktibidad ngayong taon na may temang “The Biggest Hour for the Earth.”

Ang inisyatibo ng World Wildlife Fund (WWF) na Earth Hour ay isang global movement na taunang ginagawa, humihimok sa indibidwal, komunidad, at mga negosyo na patayin ang non-essential electrical lights ng isang oras bilang simbolo ng commitment para sa mundo.

Ang isang oras na “lights off” action ay makakatulong na mabawasan ang gastos sa kuryente, at nakakatulong na mabawasan ang carbon emission at nakalalasong greenhouse gases na ang major source ay elektrisidad.

May nakalinya ding Earth Hour activities ang ibang rehiyon ng DENR tulad ng pag-post ng infographics ng aktibidad, pakikiisa ng mga high school, universities at colleges, at mga tao na magpalitrato habang nakikiisa at ipo-post ito sa regional Facebook pages ng DENR na may maikling description ng kanilang karanasan.

Nanawagan din ang DENR sa mga Pilipino, na suportahan ang imbitasyon ng WWF na bigyan ng panahon ang Earth Hour at magbuhos ng 60 minuto bilang bahagi ng pagpapalawak ng kaalaman hinggil sa climate crisis. | ulat ni Michael Rogas
