DENR, naglabas ng water conservation guidelines para sa mga tanggapan ng pamahalaan

Ngayong opisyal nang idineklara ang El Niño ay hinihikayat na rin ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) ang mga tanggapan ng pamahalaan na makiisa sa pagtitipid ng tubig.

Alinsunod sa Memorandum Circular (MC) No. 22 na inisyu ng Malacañang, naglabas na ang Water Resources Management Office (WRMO) ng guidelines para sa epektibong water conservation measures sa lahat ng government offices, sa pamamagitan ng kanilang mga building administrators.

Sa ilalim nito, hinihikayat ang mga ahensya ng pamahalaan na magkaroon ng hiwalay na water meter nang regular na ma-monitor ang kanilang konsumo.

Ipunin din ang mga tubig-ulan para magamit panlinis o pandilig ng halaman.

Pinaalalahanan din ang building administrators na tiyaking walang mga tagas at sirang mga gripo o tubo ng tubig.

Paliwanag ng WRMO, ang mga running water sa mga lumang urinals at toilets na may mga palyadong valves ay nagdudulot ng 130 cubic meters of water waste kada buwan o katumas ng P12,000 kada buwan.

Inirerekomenda ng WRMO ang pagpapatay sa valve ng tubig mula alas-7 ng gabi o kapag wala nang empleyado ang nasa opisina hanggang alas-6 ng umaga.

Inirerekomenda din nito na ang bawat empleyado ay makapagkonsumo ng hindi naman lalagpas sa 50 litro ng tubig kada araw.

“As a guide, each employee must not consume more than 50 liters of water per day in office buildings (also consider the number of visitors for frontline agencies) and not more than 180 liters per day in households/condominiums and 24/7 offices. Multiply these per capita consumption guides and compare with your total monthly consumption (1,000 liters = 1 cubic meter),” pahayag ng WRMO.
