Nationwide gun ban, ipatutupad simula January 12 bilang paghahanda sa 2025 midterm elections—PNP

Magpapatupad ng nationwide gun ban ang Philippine National Police (PNP) simula January 12, kasabay ng pagsisimula ng election period para sa 2025 midterm elections sa May.

Ayon kay PNP Spokesperson Police Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, magsasagawa ang mga pulis ng checkpoint operations sa mga estratehikong lugar upang tiyakin ang mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng gun ban.

Base sa resolusyon ng Commission on Elections (Comelec), tanging mga lehitimong miyembro ng pulisya, militar, at iba pang law enforcement agencies at nasa official duty lamang ang papayagang magdala ng baril sa panahon ng election period.

Ang mga hindi sakop ng exemptions ay kailangang kumuha ng Certificate of Authority mula sa Comelec Committee on Ban on Firearms and Security Concerns (CBFSC) upang mabigyan ng permiso.

Samantala, pinaigting din ng PNP ang kampanya laban sa private armed groups (PAGs) at loose firearms bilang paghahanda sa halalan.
