‘Special food stamps’ para sa mga magsasaka kapalit ng kanilang sobrang ani, iminungkahi

Iminungkahi ng isang mambabatas sa Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) na makipagtulungan sa Department of Agriculture (DA) upang mabigyan ng special food stamps ang mga magsasaka.

Paliwanag ni Albay Representative Joey Salceda, kung pagbabatayan ang food stamp programs ng ibang bansa, ay nilalayon nitong tugunan ang rural surplus at food poor urban community.

“Around 30 percent of farmers are poor. So, if you want to make this program sustainable, you link it with boosting farmer incomes,” ani Salceda.

Ang maaari aniyang gawin ng DSWD at DA, sa kada sobrang ani o agriculture surplus ng magsasaka, ay makakakuha ito ng food stamp para sa general food items.

Sa ganitong paraan, matutulungan ang mga magsasaka na maibenta ang kanilang ani, at mabibigyan sila ng food stamp.

Kasabay nito ay matitiyak din ang sapat na suplay ng agricultural commodity na magreresulta sa mas mababang presyo para sa mga mamimili.
