Coast Guard, binabantayan ang posibleng oil spill sa tumagilid na barko sa Romblon

Naglagay na ng oil spill boom ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Southern Tagalog para makontrol ang posibleng banta ng oil spill sa tumagilid na barko sa Banton Island, Romblon kahapon ng umaga.

Ayon sa PCG, ang oil spill boom ay isang paraan para mapigilan ang posibleng oil spill sa karagatan ng Barangay Nasunugan, Banton, Romblon.

Tumagilid ang MV Maria Helena na pag-aari ng Montenegro Shipping Lines, may halos 100 Metro ang layo sa babaybayin ng nasabing isla dahil sa lakas ng hangin at malalaking alon dulot ng habagat kahapon.

Nailigtas naman ang mga crew at pasahero ng naturang barko matapos ang mabilis na responde ng Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) ng bayan ng Banton.
