Pagpasa ng Senado ng resolusyon na mag-uudyok na iakyat ang 2016 arbitral ruling sa UNGA, kumakatawan lamang sa national consensus ng bansa – Department of Foreign Affairs

Naglabas ng pahayag ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) hinggil sa pagkakapasa ng Senate Resolution na nagtataguyod sa 2016 arbitral ruling kung saan sinabi ng kagawaran na kumakatawan ito sa national consensus ng bansa.

Ayon sa DFA, ang Senate Resolution 718 na inihain nina Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri at Senator Risa Hontiveros ay nagmumungkahi ng mga hakbang na maaaring gawin ng Executive Branch upang tugunan ang mga ginagawa ng China sa mga pinag-aagawang teritoryo.

Ayon sa DFA, masusi nilang pag-aaralan ang lahat ng mga diplomatic initiatives na maaaring gawin ng bansa sa hinaharap na magtataguyod ng pambansang interes ng Pilipinas.

Sa ilalim ng nasabing resolusyon ay inaasahan na patuloy na magsasagawa ng dayalogo ang DFA sa pamahalaan ng China upang igiit ang sovereign rights ng Pilipinas sa West Philippine Sea.| ulat ni Gab Humilde Villegas
