Diretsahang tinuligsa ni House Deputy Majority Leader Janette Garin ang mga pekeng eksperto na kinukuwestyon ang kasunduan sa pagitan ng Tingog Party-list, PhilHealth at Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) para sa pagpapatayo ng mga ospital at health facilities sa buong bansa.

Sa kaniyang privilege speech ipinagtanggol ni Garin ang layunin ng naturang kasunduan na palawakin ang hospital infratructure ng bansa, taliwas sa paratang ng doktor na si Tony Leachon na ginagamit ito para sa politika at may isyung ligal.

“Kaliwat kanan ang narinig natin na sinasabeng, o yung Tingog, bakit nakipagpirmahan sa PhilHealth? Hindi dapat makialam ang Tingog dyan kasi andiyan ang DOH at ang DILG at hindi dapat pasukin ang bawat kongeresista ang problema ng kalusugan. Mr. Chair, distinguished colleagues, this is a twisted interpretation of how legislators should work. Yes, we legislate, we are the voices of our people, but we also look into the gaps that needs our urgent help,” ani Garin.

Tinukoy pa ng Iloilo First District Representative na maraming mga lokal na ospital ang hindi pa accredited ng PhilHealth at may kakulangan din ng health facilites sa mga bayan gaya ng paanakan.

Ito aniya ang nais tugunan ng pakikipagkasundo ng Tingog.

“Hindi naman sinasabi na bawal tumulong ang iba. ‘Yung mga maiingay dyan at nagpapanggap na eksperto, I dare them to come out in the open and do the tasks and address the gaps we face at the present,” dagdag ni Garin.

Tanong pa ng lady solon na kung hindi Tingog ang pumasok sa kasunduan ay aani ba ito ng kritisismo.

“I am not standing because the tingog representative is my colleague and my kababayan. But I am standing simply because we still have not learned from the crab mentality that resides in some of the minds and of the hearts of some fake experts pretending to be health advocates…Kung hindi ba Tingog ang nakipagpirmahan doon, magiingay ba ng ganito?” sabi pa niya.

Muli rin niyang binigyang-diin na batay sa kasunduan, walang pera na ililipat sa Tingog, bagkus ay tulong lamang ito na mailapit sa DBP ang mga nais makakuha ng hospital loans ayon sa panuntunan ng pagpapautang.

Kaya naman hamon niya sa mga reform at advocates na lumalabas sa media na huwag puro daldal bagkus ay kumilos at tumulong din. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
