The Philippines’ women’s beach volleyball campaign continues to roll as both of its teams secured spots in the quarterfinals on Monday.
Khylem Progella and Sofiah Pagara remained unbeaten after eliminating Hong Kong’s N.L. Tsang and M.C. Wong 26–24, 21–18 in the Round of 16.
They will take on Japanese sisters Ren and Non Matsumoto on Wednesday for a place in the semis.
Meanwhile, Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons dealt Japan’s Sakura Ito and Mayu Sawame a 21-17, 21-15 defeat.
SiPons will be up against Taravadee Naraphornrapat and Worapeerachayakorn Kongphopsarutawadee of Thailand in the last eight.
In the men’s division, Ran Abdilla and Lerry John Francisco failed to advance to the Round of 16 after suffering 0–2 losses to Qatar and Oman.
James Buytrago and Ronniel Rosales also missed out on the knockout round after going 1-2 in the group stage.
