EJ Obiena captured his second gold medal this week after clearing 5.83 meters at the Stabhochsprung Meeting in Jockgrim, Germany.
It was the Filipino Olympian’s second successive title in Germany after ruling the Halberstadter Hohenflug and his seventh overall crown this year.
On Facebook, Obiena shared that he was pleased to still clear the height after encountering difficulties in his warm-up and on his early attempts.
Qatar’s Seifeldin Abdelsalam finished second with the same 5.83 meter clearance while Turkey’s Ersu Sasma placed third after clearing 5.77 meters.
Based on the World Athletics rankings as of August 4, the 30-year old is ranked no. 13 in the world.
