Alex Eala’s historic Wimbledon campaign has propelled her to a new career-high ranking of no. 28 in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.
The new milestone surpassed her previous career-best of no.29 last March after a strong run at the Indian Wells Open.
The 21-year old Eala made the significant climb after reaching the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time, highlighted by an upset win over defending champion Iga Switaek in the Round of 32.
The new ranking will further boost Eala’s North American hardcout campaign ahead of the US Open in August – the final Grand Slam of the year.
She will next compete at the WTA 500 Mubadala DC Open, which begins on July 25.
Meanwhile, Eala returned to Manila with a hero’s welcome on Sunday morning.
