The Philippine’s Department of Interior and Local Government, Secretary Jonvic Remulla believes, based on initial investigations, the online game “ROBLOX” influenced the student to perpetrate a shooting incident that killed a fellow student and injured others.
Secretary Remulla made the statement during a Press Conference at the Philippine National Police Headquarters in Quezon City.
The DILG Chief pointed out that ROBLOX as a game in itself is not dangerous but emphasizes that chat groups during the game breeds radicalization on players.
Remulla, during the press conference, further reiterated the call to lawmakers to help curb or control FIRST PERSON SHOOTER Games where the student who committed the shooting broadcasted the deed live through social media.
The Ateneo De Zamboanga Shooting incident is the 2nd such incident involving grade school students this year, the first is in Tacloban City in June 2026.
