Pagtitibayin ng ASEAN ang kooperasyon sa sektor ng enerhiya sa gitna ng tumataas na presyo ng langis at iba pang pandaigdigang hamon sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalakas ng mga kasunduan at proyekto para sa mas matatag na suplay ng enerhiya sa rehiyon.
Ayon kay DTI Undersecretary Allan Gepty, kabilang sa mga prayoridad ang pagpapatupad ng ASEAN Power Grid upang mapahusay ang regional energy connectivity, gayundin ang pagpapabilis ng ratipikasyon ng ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement. Isinusulong din ng ASEAN ang pamumuhunan sa renewable energy bilang bahagi ng green transition upang mabawasan ang epekto ng mga krisis sa suplay at presyo ng enerhiya.
“For ASEAN to maintain its competitiveness and comparative advantage in the global economy, very important that our energy sector is resilient. One of our priority economic deliverables is the implementation of the ASEAN Power Grid. We are also working on the ratification of the ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement. And when it comes to green transition, the implementation of the Regional Action Plan on Investment will facilitate investments in renewable energy. There are many initiatives being done right now because as we address these challenges, we also have to embrace green energy in the process.” — DTI Undersecretary Allan B. Gepty
