Gilas Pilipinas Women are off to a strong start in the 20th Asian Games 3×3 basketball action after sweeping Tuesday’s assignments at the Kinjo Futo Station Square in Nagoya.
Kacey Dela Rosa, Kennan Ka, Victoria Pasilang and Amyah Espanol first dispatched Mongolia, 17-12 in Pool C.
Dela Rosa overcame an apparent ankle injury early on and led the Philippines with 10 points, three rebounds, an assist, and a block. Ka added three points while Pasilang and Espanol had two points each against the Mongolians.
Gilas Women then snared their second straight win with a dominant 21-4 victory over Macao, China behind Pasilang’s game-high eight points.
Ka added seven, while Dela Rosa and Espanol combined for six markers.
Gilas Women will return to action on Wednesday against fellow unbeaten team Malaysia at 5:05pm Philippine time, for a chance to earn an outright spot in the quarterfinals.
