Jean Claude Saclag made it look like child’s play as he dominated Japan’s Daisuke Murayama, 3-0 to advance to the men’s traditional MMA -65kg final.
Saclag put on a striking masterclass against his former training partner in the semifinals, landing a spinning kick to the body and a head kick in the opening round.
The multi-titled Filipino fighter continued the onslaught in the second to pull off the convincing and earn a shot for his first Asian Games gold medal.
He will take on Otabek Rajabov of Tajikistan in the championship round on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Carlos Alvarez suffered a TKO loss to Kazakhstan’s Yer-kin-ga-li Bur-ku-ta-lin in the men’s traditional MMA -77kg semis and ended up with a bronze.
Alvarez had a terrific start, dropping his opponent with a spinning backfist before scoring a takedown in the opening round.
Burkutalin, however, won the striking battle in the second and forced an extra round, where he sent Alvarez down with a head kick and ended the fight with hammer fists.
