Nesthy Petecio, Carlo Paalam, Aira Villegas and Eumir Marcial will spearhead the Philippine boxing team at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan this September.
The four Olympic medalists will join three others in the Asiad boxing competitions scheduled from September 19 to October 4, according to Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) president Marcus Manalo,
Petecio and Villegas, who competed in the 57 and 50kg divisions, respectively, in the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023, are now listed in the 60 and 51kg categories.
Paalam, on the other hand, will move down to the 55kg class this time while Marcial is entered in the men’s 80kg division.
Marjon Piañar, for his part, will see action in the men’s 70kg category.
Manalo added that ABAP has yet to finalize its entries for the men’s 60 and 90kg divisions.
He said Junmilardo Ogayre and Paul Julyfer Bascon will battle for the men’s 60kg spot while pro boxer Weljon Mindoro is being eyed for the men’s 90kg competition.
