Anisha Eunice “Ichang” Caluya is ready to make her women’s elite debut at the 2026 National Age Group Triathlon Series (NAGT) in Camotes Island.
The 19-year-old standout from Las Piñas will compete in the women’s elite sprint-distance triathlon on Sunday, where she is set to face a strong field of competitors.
In an interview with Sports Radio 918, Caluya expressed her excitement about taking on her first senior women’s race, saying she welcomed the challenge as an opportunity to push herself and improve.
“I was able to train with some of my seniors. So, I got to learn from them and experience their level of training. And then, there were times when it was physically and mentally challenging,” Caluya said.
“But I actually enjoyed that kind of challenge because I was able to push myself and improve. And of course, since I was in the junior category last year, I see this race as an opportunity to prepare myself for the next level and learn how to compete against stronger and more experienced athletes,” added Caluya, also a three-time NAGT champion in the junior women elite aquathlon, duathlon and triathlon.

A second-year student at De La Salle University, where she is pursuing a double major in Manufacturing Engineering and Robotics Engineering, Caluya previously placed fourth at the Asia Cup Triathlon New Taipei 2026. She believes the experience will help her in her upcoming NAGT campaign.
“So, I’ll definitely bring those lessons with me in the upcoming race this week. And hopefully, I’ll be able to use them to keep improving in both local and international races,” Caluya said.
