Alexsandra Ann Diaz captured three gold medals and established two new world youth records in the women’s 48-kilogram division in the World Youth Weightlifting Championships in Cali, Colombia.
Diaz lifted 77 kilos in snatch and a new world mark of 90 kilos in clean and jerk for a combined total of 175 kilos, good for another world youth record.
Last year, Alexsandra, niece of Olympic champion Hidilyn Diaz, won a pair of golds and a bronze in the 45kg category.
Meanwhile, Jay-R Colonia pocketed a gold and a pair of silver medals in the men’s 56kg contest.
Colonia ranked first in clean and jerk with a lift of 140 kilos, second in snatch with 109 kilos, as well as in total with 249 kilos.
Althea Bacarro added a silver and a bronze in the 44kg division, recording the second-best lift in clean and jerk at 80 kilos and ending up third overall with a total lift of 140 kilos.
