A total of 443 athletes will comprise Team Philippines in the 20th Asian Games set from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
This was announced by the Philippine Olympic Committee on Thursday morning during its General Assembly at East Ocean Palace Hotel in Parañaque.
The number is the country’s second biggest delegation in the continental event. This is next to the 524 athletes who competed in the 1994 Hiroshima Games also in the “Land of the Rising Sun.”
The delegation totals to 753 including 258 officials, 27 medical personnel, 17 headquarters and admin personnel and chefs de mission.
The POC also officially introduced Karate Pilipinas president Richard Lim as the chef de mission alongside deputies Alexander Sulit of judo, vovinam’s Jose Malonzo, curling’s Jarryd Bello, and Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas executive director Erika Dy.
The Philippines will aim to improve its 4 gold-2 silver-12 bronze medal harvest in the Hangzhou Games in 2023.
