Naniniwala ang House prosecution panel na higit na mapapalakas ang kasong unexplained wealth laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte sa pagsusumite ng kaniyang tax records sa Senate Impeachment Court.
Ayon kay House prosecution adviser at spokesperson Robert Ace Barbers, ikukumpara ang mga tax record sa Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN), bank records, at ulat ng Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) upang matukoy kung tugma ang idineklarang yaman ng Bise Presidente sa kaniyang kita at mga transaksiyong pinansyal.
“This ensures that the Impeachment Court can examine all relevant records in its search for the truth. Taken together, these documents complete the documentary trail. They will allow the Impeachment Court to determine whether the Vice President’s declared wealth is consistent with her income and financial transactions,” ani Barbers.
Naniniwala rin si House prosecution spokesperson at Kabataan Party-list Representative Renee Co, na makatutulong ang bank records upang mas malinaw na masuri ang lawak ng yaman ng mag-asawang Sara Duterte at Atty. Mans Carpio.
Aniya, inaasahan nilang mabibigyang-linaw ng mga dokumento kung saan nagmula at napunta ang kanilang mga pondo.
Ipina-subpoena ng impeachment court ang bank records, tax records at AMLC report ng mag-asawa bilang bahagi ng imbestigasyon sa kasong unexplained wealth.
Binigyang-diin naman ni Barbers, na nakabatay ang kaso ng prosekusyon sa mga opisyal na rekord ng pamahalaan at hindi sa haka-haka o pulitika.
“May resibo. May dokumento. May paper trail. Hindi ito usapin ng haka-haka o pulitika. Ang ebidensiya ay nagmumula sa mga opisyal na rekord ng gobyerno,” giit ni Barbers.
