Kanselado ang mahigit 50 biyahe pandagat sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa ngayong Linggo, August 9, dahil sa masamang lagay ng panahon dulot ng Southwest Monsoon o Habagat.
Ayon sa Philippine Ports Authority o PPA, kabilang sa mga apektadong ruta ang mga biyaheng mula Batangas, Mindoro, Palawan, Bicol, Quezon, Marinduque, Panay, Guimaras, Bohol, Leyte, at Agusan. Kabilang din sa mga nakanselang biyahe ang ilang ruta patungong Coron, Caticlan, Romblon, Masbate, Cebu, at Camiguin.

Nilinaw ng PPA na hindi ito ang direktang nagkakansela ng mga biyahe. Dagdag nito, awtomatikong nasususpinde ang paglalayag kapag nagpatupad ng no-sail policy ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) dahil sa masamang panahon at maalong karagatan. Maaari ring magkansela ng biyahe ang mga shipping line alinsunod sa kanilang mga permit at safety protocols.
Pinapayuhan ang mga pasahero na makipag-ugnayan muna sa kanilang shipping company at port authorities bago bumiyahe upang malaman ang pinakabagong impormasyon sa iskedyul ng mga barko habang patuloy na nakaaapekto ang Habagat sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa.
