The Philippine weightlifting team amassed 13 golds, six silvers, and seven bronzes after three days of competition at the 2026 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Jhodie Peralta led the medal haul with three golds and two silver medals in the youth and junior women’s 53kg divisions.
In the youth category, Peralta won gold in snatch with 86kg and in total with 188kg, while taking silver in clean and jerk with 102kg. Her snatch lift also earned her gold in the junior division, while her total effort secured a second silver.
Meanwhile, Alexsandra Ann Diaz and Jerick Icon Castro each completed three-gold sweeps.
Diaz repeated her golden hat trick in the World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia, lifting 77kg in snatch and 92kg in clean and jerk for a total of 159kg in the 49kg category.
She added two bronzes in the junior category, placing third in snatch and in total.
Castro ruled the men’s 60kg youth category, posting 116kg snatch and 144kg clean and jerk lifts for a 260kg total. His clean and jerk performance also set a new Asian Youth record.
In the same youth division, Kirby Kent Alas-as secured two bronze medals in snatch at 110kg and total at 243kg.
In addition, Althea Bacaro won two golds in the women’s 45kg youth category, topping the clean and jerk with 85kg and total with 146kg.
Jay-R Colonia added two silver medals and one bronze in the men’s 55kg youth category. He finished third in snatch with 108kg and finished second in clean and jerk with 135kg and in total with 243kg.
In the junior men’s 60kg division, Prince Keil Delos Santos won gold in snatch with 120kg and two bronze medals in clean and jerk with 144kg and total with 264kg.
Lastly, Angeline Colonia captured gold in snatch with 80kg and earned a pair of silvers in the clean and jerk with 93kg and total with 173kg in the women’s 49kg junior category.
