The Philippine colors are now flying high in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan after the national flag raised at the main plaza of the Athletes’ Village
The flag-raising ceremony officially welcomed each delegation and signified the Philippines’ official participation in the Asiad.
Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino personally attended the ceremony, joined by chef de mission Richard Lim, deputy chefs de mission Jarryd Bello, Erika Dy and Jop Malonzo, Dr. Gabe Zetazate, and members of the Team Philippines delegation and support staff.
The occasion also highlighted the spirit of friendship between the Philippines and Japan.
As part of the team’s official welcome, Tolentino took part in a gift exchange with Nagoya Mayor Ichirō Hirosawa, expressing appreciation for the host city’s warm hospitality.
