NAGOYA, Japan – Jean Claude Saclag will take home a silver medal after losing to Otabek Rajabov of Tajikistan, 0-3, in the men’s traditional mixed martial arts -65kg final on Tuesday at the Nagoya City Inae Sports Center.
It is the Philippines’ first silver in this year’s edition of the quadrennial showcase, which MMA was played for the very first time in Asiad history.
The country now has four medals including three bronzes from karate, MMA, and soft tennis.
Saclag knocked down Rajabov early in the match but the Tajik quickly recovered and dictated the tempo after putting the Filipino on the ground multiple times.
Saclag tried to counter one last time but Rajabov was in his full strength to grapple him again until the end.
