Filipina tennis sensation Alexandra Eala is projected to rise to a new career milestone.
Based on the latest WTA Live rankings, the world no.20 Filipina has climbed to no.18 following her third-round exit at the WTA 1000 Cincinnati Open.
Eala, who achieved a career-best no.17 seeding in Cincinnati, defeated Romania’s Elena-Gabriela Ruse in the second round before coming up short against world no.10 Amanda Anisimova of the USA 6-4, 4-6, 2-6.
With her Round of 32 finish in Cincinnati, Eala earned 65 ranking points, bringing her projected total to 2,281 points and moving her two spots higher in the WTA world rankings.
The 21-year-old Filipina also pocketed $47,605 or approximately P2.9 million in prize money for her third-round showing in Mason, Ohio.
Meanwhile, Eala is set to take part in the 2026 Stars of the Open exhibition at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows, New York on August 27, as part of the US Open Fan Week.
Eala will face American rising star and world no. 16 Iva Jovic in one of four singles exhibition matches.
The exhibition will also give Eala a brief breather before she turns her attention to the 2026 US Open women’s singles main draw, where she is projected to enter the tournament as the no.15 seed.
Eala is also slated to compete in the mixed doubles tournament with Canadian world no.4 Felix Auger-Aliassime.
